Yes That Really Happened

So I can no longer say I have never broken a bone. I have a fractured rib, a small one. The doctor said it's nothing too bad. How did I fracture my rib? Flying AJ surprise attack. Just wanted to update you guys. I'm trying hard to work but keep getting distracted, that would be thanks to my meds. Life goes on. Got a few reviews to do.

In other news guess who got the cover for the Winter issue of Dulcelina Magazine? Me that's who.

Really People: War on Halloween

So I was watching the news with Papa this morning, something I try not to do. Between the craziness going on in the world and Papa yelling at the people on the tv, it's just not worth it to me. But a headline story caught my eye.

War on Halloween. Are you kidding me people??

I didn't catch the whole story, but basically it was saying how Halloween is offensive to some and we should be calling it a Harvest Festival, and one of the anchors say can't we just let the kids be kids. I flat out pulled a Papa and said to the tv Halloween is a Harvest Festival you idiots.

Samhain. Harvest Festival. Halloween.

Let me educated you a little. Halloween was originally a Celtic holiday called Samhain, and was the last Harvest Festival of the year. It was the end of the year, and the beginning. It started the "dead" half of the year. It was when the good Celtic people would feast upon the best of the harvest in preparation for the coming cold.

Samhain is also the day when the veil between the worlds is the thinnest.

Which in the Pagan aspect we use it as a day to remember our beloved dead. But since the veil is so thin you can't tell exactly who is dead or alive, who is good or bad. So they started the tradition of wearing masks to confuse the dead. We also owe our jack o'lanterns to them. The story is they used to carve turnips and leave them out to ward off evil spirits. They would also during their feasts set a place for their beloved dead.

Trick or Treat.

Everyone disguised them, and it was bad to turn away anyone that asked for a bit of feast. Sounds like trick or treating to me. Dress up in a costume, knock on people's door and ask for candy.

War on Halloween? Doubtful, sounds like people are starting to see it for what it was originally.

Non-GMO Project Verified affirms BioTerra Herbs’ passion and never-ending strive for providing only the best herbal products possible. The entire line of herbal supplements that cover health issues consumers see every day, prove to be the healthiest alternative to supplementing a healthy, honest, and happy lifestyle.
I jumped on the chance to try these out. I picked out AHHH (detox) and as a bonus they sent me trial sizes of Z-Z-Z (sleep) and Shush (snoring). All products were amazing and I love the fun names. I actually want to order some more.

I'm still using the detox actually, I have issues with following through straight but I like to do them still. The sleep one was amazing, I had a bout of insomnia and figured I would give it a shot. I was out in 10 minutes, and I woke up feeling rested the next day instead of tired like usual. Though I don't like taking things to help me sleep because of the kids. I don't know if the snoring actually helped, since one I sleep alone usually and only snore when sick, but I did feel more rested when I used it.

Definitely some awesome products, I definitely want to pick out some more soon.

I received the products mentioned for free in exchange for my honest opinions.

Just Some of My Favorite Things #OSBlog

Time for some more Old School Blogging with Elaine from Miss Elaine-ous Life. This time we are doing some of our favorite things, prompted of course.

Sit down restaurant
Denny's hands down. It's kid friendly, great food, and not too expensive. The kids like it, they have kids eat free nights. They don't make you feel rushed or embarrassed if your kids make a mess.

Cookie
Anything from the Starbucks bake case, yummmmmm! Yeah I know the picture isn't a cookie but I don't have any of pictures of cookies.

Bath product scent
Clean smelling! Really I don't like a lot of smelly smelly stuff, some of it makes me sneeze or cough, so I like anything that has a clean scent to it, though I love coconut too.

T.V. shows
All my shows end! Welp Buffy, Charmed, True Blood lol. Actually Bob's Burgers and American Dad are my favorites lately, plus Once Upon a Time and Supernatural.

Flower/plant
Orchids, rose, tulips, daisies. Anything really, I love getting flowers and it doesn't happen often.

Bad-for-me snack
Ben & Jerry's Half Baked.

Magazines
Click is pretty much the only one I read, besides Dulcelina Magazine of course! (Hint hint: that's the one I work for)

Hobby (besides blogging)
Writing, photography, painting, creating, anything with glitter.

Holiday
Halloween! Yes it is a holiday. I'm Pagan, I call it Samhain, it's the start of the new year.

Girls Night Out activity
Bar hopping! Though it's been umm almost 3 years since the last time I went.

via Etsy (getting it soon)

Date night

Powerful But Does Not Mesh

So I find this image every once in a while, latest sighting was on Instagram. I love the image, the quote, it's powerful and such an important message ... but it does not mesh! My brain instantly shouts NO and makes me comment.

Why doesn't it mesh?

Because Ariel aka the Little Mermaid didn't change to fit into society. Society is what is around you, what is the norm, what you live in. Her society was, and is MERMAIDS. She changed out of her society. She changed to live her dream.

You mean she changed to get a man, right?

NO! In the Disney movie yes, she fell in love with a prince and changed to get him, but there are hints to the original story. Before even knowing her prince, before even seeing a human up close, she was in love with human things. She collected them, she loved to know about the human world first hand. In the original story, yes she fell in love but her main dream or goal was to attain a human soul, for human souls are eternal, while mermaids aren't. In order for her to get a human soul, she needed to be married to a human, then his soul would become hers.

But she wanted to go back home?

When did she say that? She missed her family and friends, of course, she saw them when she could, nothing kept her from seeing them, in the Disney movie. In the original story though she had a chance to go home, back to her society, she refused and sacrificed herself. The reason this bothers me is the assumption that our norm is everyone's norm. But as someone told me they didn't think the quote was about Ariel but that she was an image to convey the point. Which I get but she doesn't really, using her as the spokesmermaid for this quote corrupts the story.

My Newest Addition to my Beauty Routine

Ok so here is a little known fact about me, ok maybe not so little known ... I don't usually wear makeup. Personally I find that the less I wear makeup the less I need it, as in less blemishes. But one thing that always bothered me when I do wear makeup is that it seems to melt off, especially in the summer.

Enter Skindinava!

This is a makeup primer you spray it on before your makeup and it helps protect your skin and keep your makeup from doing the "melt" plus this one is free of the chemicals that aren't good for you. It's a lightweight, like seriously couldn't feel it at all, and breathable which means it won't clog up your pores.

Here's a little GIF of me spraying it on, nice and easy just spray, no rubbing or anything.

Morning

Evening after running after my monsters all day

To be honest I really didn't wear much more than my BB cream, but it's didn't melt off like usual. It was still holding up. Definitely have it in the bathroom next to my BB cream from now on.

Mornings Get Better with #HelloKeurig

Thanks to Influenster I received a brand new Keurig 2.0 to review, before they even came out in stores. Woo-Hoo! I was super excited to get this.

The Keurig 2.0 has some amazing features, including being able to make a pot of coffee! It also holds the largest amount of water of any Keurig, meaning you can refill it less. You can program favorites, change the colors of the light display, set up a nighttime light, auto time on and time off, and so much more. I am in love with the Keurig.

The colors!

The only thing that I would like to change is that it won't let you use a filtered my-cup. Not a big problem to me really, but Papa prefers to use them, so we actually have both the new and old Keurigs set up. Double the coffee making power!
