Around Newburgh: Movie Time

Summer Movie at the Library

Newburgh Free Library will be showing Divergent

On Thursday August 21st at 6pm

The Newburgh Free Library will be offering a free showing of Divergent on August 21st from 6-8:30pm. The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Those known as the "Divergents" will never fit into any one of the factions and discover a sinister plot is brewing against them.

Ages welcomed are adults and teens. It will be showed in the auditorium.

I have been waiting to see this movie so bad, if I could get a sitter I would probably go to the event. I want to see if Tris and Four in the movie live up to the Tris and Four in my head. It wasn't till I saw the movie trailers that I actually wanted to read the book. It was great though, read it in a night.

In this future setting of the Divergent world we are split up into factions, on an appointed day in their 16th year children must choose a faction after taking a placement test designed to match them to a faction. The factions are based on human virtues.
  • Dauntless (the brace)
  • Amity (the peaceful)
  • Erudite (the intelligence)
  • Abnegation (the selfless)
  • Candor (the honest)
Then there is the never talked about Divergents. They brain doesn't reaction the same to serum, they have more than one faction option at the end of their aptitude test. They are consider dangerous as they diverge from the norm of the society they live in.  They threaten the peace by showing that people can be more than one virtue.
