The Never Sleep Kids #iPPP

My kids have this habit of becoming the Never Sleep Kids. But with smiles like these who cares. Well sometimes I care but only cause they wake up early and I am not a morning person.

The night when AJ came back home from his dad's was one of those nights. Ariel wanted to watch TV with me, while refusing to let me get my MacBook out for work. AJ played his games on his nook. Let me tell you while he has one WILD imagination he also has a very logical mind, he can figure out pretty much anything.

I tried to give them my "go to sleep face" but AJ gave me the above face. Which led me to giving up and playing around online. Oh and I dyed my hair. It got way too blonde for me, so I went back to red. I then dip dye styled the ends purple. I'm so happy to have purple hair again.

About The Cause

Make the Difference

There are 7 diseases that disable and debilitate 1 in 6 people worldwide, including over half a billion children, and it is likely that you have never heard of them. These parasitic and bacterial diseases live and breed in bodies, causing severe weight loss and malnutrition, blindness, and even death. Sadly, these diseases are entirely treatable and preventable. Yet, each day lives are lost because there is no access to the solution: one packet of pills that costs approximately 50 cents and can treat one child for a year.

The Solution

This week, your purchase provides a packet of pills that treats and protects 14 children from 7 horrible diseases for one year. With your support, we will not only save lives, but end these diseases indefinitely.

This Week's Charity

End7

END7 is an international advocacy campaign seeking to eliminate seven neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) by 2020. These diseases include elephantiasis, river blindness, trachoma, snail fever, hookworm, whipworm and roundworm.

Sometimes Life Happens

So life can get in the way sometimes. Between Grandma passing, some family issues, and me being a funk I haven't been posting much. I've been trying to keep up but having my depression issues isn't helping, crisis mode is what my therapist called it. I'm still around though and I've been trying to keep busy. I've had a few gigs on Etsy creating some logos, been baby sitting, and of course taking photos.

I'm also in the planning and plotting phase of writing a NOVEL! Ash will be a novel, I'm very excited about this. So while I might not be updating as much as I would like to I'm still around.

Water fae. Nixie. Lorelei. River mermaid. Shape shifter.

Nixie women have an always wet skirt, men have slit ears. They remind me of kelpies that are also water fae, shape shifters, and are always dripping wet. They are are devastatingly beautiful, but always there is a trace of what they are even in human form.

Snag a Roomie {Daily Mermaid}

So the whole hipster mermaid bit has been running through my head, why cause I apparently am I and I'm embracing it.

Summer Faerie Fun #iPPP

Oh my goddess! Look the Faerie Barista is alive! I'm so behind on everything. I'm trying to catch up but its a never ending cycle. I mean do you know how many emails I get a day (that I've been ignoring)?!

What have I been up to? Well we got a(nother) pool. I've been baby sitting, running around, and enjoying summer basically. Of course I really need to start cracking down and get to work. Though the Etsy shop has been working pretty good. I cranked out three custom logo proofs today. It felt good. I miss working.

And Papa got a dog! He's such a cutie when he isn't pooping in the house. He's my couch buddy.

Playing with Light

profile in light

In my Click! magazine I got a swatch sample with a heart to make a bokeh shape lens cap for your DSLR. I decided to try it out. These were my first attempts. And I still haven't made much headway with it. But I thought they were sweet images anyway. I mean look at those curls and you can see she's smiling even though you can't see that cheesy grin.

yum

I just love! I mean love, the light playing off her curls. Not to mention they dreamlike quality the light gave them.

Coffee Thoughts {Daily Mermaid}

via deviantart
I think I figured something out.

Why hipsters like mermaids?

Cause of Starbucks. Seriously. Think about it. Hipsters like Starbucks. Starbucks logo is a mermaid. Hipsters like mermaids. Or maybe I just need more coffee.

Woke up earlier than usual today in order to watch my little charge Caleb. I don't think one cup of coffee is cutting it. Definitely need some Starbucks, but yeah. Maybe I'll drag my butt out later.

Free From Fear, Free For Hope {Sevenly}

At this very moment, in the time it takes you to read this, another child is taken from their family. This precious child will be sold into the horrifying world of sexual slavery. Sadly, it is estimated that 1.2 million children are trafficked every year for the first time. In Thailand, extreme poverty drives some parents to even sell their children to traffickers. In other situations, young girls hoping to help support their families will leave their village on the promise of a good job in the city, only to find themselves victims of forced prostitution.

The Solution

This week, your purchase will help fund a rescue mission to free children who have been sold into the sex-trade. Through your support, Destiny Rescue will send undercover teams into brothels to safely rescue beautiful kids from the hands of cruel child traffickers. Together, we can help change the destinies of these precious lives and give them brand new futures.

Beach! {Daily Mermaid}

Do you know is awesomesauce?

I went to the beach!

This mermaid finally got to stick her feet in the sand, wet her fins, and dive under the waves. It was amazing.

This was Ariel's first trip to the beach and she loved it! Such a mermaid this one, the sand didn't even bother her. AJ of course already been to the beach before as a mini beach bum that couldn't even walk yet but tried to run away into the sea. Ariel had pretty much no faith in her swimvest, but I managed to still have time to swim on my own. AJ after a while just wanted to play at the break. But my baby girl wanted to play in the current.

See more of our Beach Adventure over at Moon in a Cup!

Finally took my mermaid girl (also AJ) to the

Beach!

I only took a few shots but the kids loved going out past the break into the current. Thankfully I actually brought their swim vests, totally a last minute decision. Mostly I knew AJ would want his cause he wears it in the kiddie pool, and if AJ has his then Ariel wants hers.

It was a great time, and I really needed a beach trip. If only for the day.

Definitely needed an ocean break, a time to refresh, wet my fins so to speak.

Evening of Fireflies

firefly story

The other night Ariel and our cousin decided to catch fireflies. It was sweet and fun, they caught a few but they didn't want to light up in the jar for us. Its alright cause it was a lovely evening spent outside. Also a learning experience for me. Next time I really need my tripod when I try this again.

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="810,811,812,814,815"]

Not sure how well it would come out with a tripod but I'm willing to try it. I would lose the angles but they just look so much better without the flash.

Around New Paltz

Starbucks girl

The other day me and Ariel had a mommy & daughter stroll around New Paltz. We stopped in at Starbucks for drinks and Ariel decided she needed yet more fruit, she had eaten tons at dinner. But hey we're accidentally health nuts me and my kids. It was nice to just walk around and spend some quiet time together, I mean not that we don't, come on we get a week for just us girls. But I don't always take advantage of it and have us go on a little mini adventure.

Outsiders

I had to get a photo of this, by no means was it the only stickered sign, but I went to school with the mastermind behind Outsider Magazine. I did love though that the stickers I saw where always put into an artistic type way, not just plastered up.

What I want to do is to have a day out with my boy there. We could hit the movies, and walk around town. I wouldn't need to have the backpack thing on him. We can go down more than just Main St (three times!) and he can bring his camera too. Or maybe just a mommy day out. I need one of those too.

Action Against Hunger {Sevenly}

This Week's Charity

Action Against Hunger

Later today, you will get hungry and take 5 steps to your refrigerator to satisfy the ache in your tummy. That small satisfaction is something that 42,000 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo will never experience because they are literally starving to death. Acute malnutrition is a preventable and treatable condition that causes the body to consume its own tissues to survive, targeting muscle and body fat first.

The Solution

This week your support will provide 21 meals for a child suffering from deadly malnutrition. These meals are specifically designed to heal an extremely malnourished child by satisfying their hunger and treating their condition. For many children, this means the difference between life and death. Partner with us and help save a life.

Action Against Hunger saves the lives of severely malnourished children and helps vulnerable communities become self-sufficient. Join us in restoring health, dignity and independence worldwide.

I think I just found my muse for my next story for Writings From Faerie. I've been wanting to write a mermaid story for a while but couldn't decide or figure out what I wanted to write. I've been wanting to write more, create more, but my muse has gone on vacation apparently. But I just feel a story with this image.

I'm Loving Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics

Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics

The colors are so cool! And they are so much more comfortable to wear on your wrist than other hair bands, which is what I love most about them. I put my hair up and down about a million times a day. I have crazy thick hair so even when it's short it gets in the way or hot and I need it up. But I just love having it down so much more than up, hence why it goes up and down all day long.

Why are they so awesome?
  • Soft, stretchy material that looks beautiful on the wrist or in the hair!
  • From America’s #1 elastics brand, Goody® Ouchless®
  • Unique knot style hair ties are perfect for personalizing or dressing up your look.
Definitely give these a try I've been using them for over a year and was so happy to get new one in my Sunkissed Vox Box.

I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster.

All Girls Allowed {Sevenly}

Help Sevenly

Stop Gendercide in China

Since China began enforcing the One-Child Policy over 37 million girls have disappeared making this the world’s largest gendercide to date. Because of a cultural preference for sons, families try to ensure their one child is a boy. To get rid of girls, parents will abort, kill them directly after birth, or abandon them. In China alone, one in every six girls disappears due to gendercide.

The Solution

This week we are teaming up with All Girls Allowed to provide food, clothing, and medical aid to a baby girl who was at risk of being abandoned or killed, due to the One-Child Policy. Your support will not only help a mother keep and care for her daughter, but also serves to restore the value of girls in the eyes of the community.

All Girls Allowed

All Girls Allowed is dedicated to restoring life, value, and dignity to girls and mothers revealing the injustice to China’s One-Child Policy.

Freedom

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="777,778,779,780,781,782"]

I've been a little absent lately I know. My grandma passed away and while I know it was for the best I'm upset. I live with my grandparents, well now grandparent. I have been very close to my grandma. It has pained me with her not being in the house and I wasn't able to go see her as much as I wanted. She has been sick and in pain for quite some time. So while I'm upset, I'm also glad that she is no longer in pain, that she is at peace.  Physically she may be gone but she will always live on in the hearts of her 5 children, 12 grandchildren and now 4 great-grandchildren, not to mention the many "adoptive" family members. If you met my grandma a few times, you were considered family.
