Typography 1/29

I'm starting to get a little bit of my creativity back. I haven't been keeping up with my journaling but I have written a story, have more in my head to come out, and I've been editing photos like crazy.

Look at how little they were!
Now if I can just get back on track with the blog and the journal I'll be set. Besides the whole exercise thing, but I have my period and killer cramps so maybe I'll wait for that. Which reminds me, looky what I got! Finally.

In all honesty (ie TMI warning) since having Ariel I've been bleeding straight through the super-sized tampons in about 2 hours or less. So this is awesome for me. I'm in love <3

What's in a name anyway?

Larafairie-stock: Rose by ~larafairie-stock

So I was offered a great opportunity to write. I can't wait to do it and even have some ideas on stories. What's the problem you ask? I need a pen name and I cannot for the life of me come up with something. I know what I want to write. I know the genre I want to write. I have a story forming in my little head, which is great since that doesn't happen all the time. But I can't think of a dang pen name!

Which is funny cause I love names. I always knew what my first daughter and son would be named and why. I love picking out character's names. I love looking up the meaning and figuring out everything. But for some reason I'm stuck. (le sigh)

Does Magic Run in the Blood?

Of the Moon by ~FallingToPieces

Now I might be the only Witch in my family. I'm also the only Pagan. But it wasn't always that way. I believe that Magic runs in our blood, just not all of my family acknowledge it. (At least my mom's family cause I have no clue about what my father's family practices.)

See my personal blood lines are very strong in Magic. I've always had a natural born talent for witchcraft. I've also always known that I was Pagan, just didn't always know the name.

I am German, Irish, and Cherokee.

But if you dig a little deeper you will also find out that my father's family is descendent from Merlin, yes the Merlin we all know so well that taught Arthur Pendragon. They even pass along the name through the ages. Yup my grandfather is Merlin, my father's middle name is Merlin. So I got the blood of the bards, the Druids there. Check one for Magic blood.

Next we move to my German blood. Now before we bring up the whole Nazi thing, let me point out. I have Gypsy blood. So we were prosecuted too. I have proof. I also have stories of a family member having their little brother's baby carriage pushed off a moving train by Nazis. So yeah, don't go there. Magic blood check two.

Lastly my Cherokee blood. It might be a little diluted but it's there. If you look at these cheekbones you can definitely see it. I even occasionally get told I get my red hair from my Cherokee blood, here I thought it was the Irish. But I know for a fact that I have Medicine power. But I am from Shamans. Magic blood check three.

So there you have it. I may be the only one to embrace it so far. AJ is certainly on the path to being a little witchy boy, and I'm sure Ariel will follow too. But I think it is semi-hereditary at least. It gives you the potential.

The Double Witchy Cat Dare

So Magaly over at Pagan Culture has double witchy cat dared me. Unfortunately I will be adding part of the dare, the book to my Want List, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. Cause I'm, ya know broke. (Plus I have the whole To Be Read Crate of books.)

The other part though I can totally do. I've been tagged. Tagged you say? Tagged (let me say tagged a few more times for good measure) means that I have to tell you 11 things about myself. Then I'm going to answer questions. Isn't that fun? Then I in turn get to tag 11 of my readers to do the same thing! Oh the fun of getting to know every one (and no I'm not being sarcastic, I love this kind of stuff)!

11 Completely Random Things About Me!

1. I like to make my kids act out the scene from Lilo & Stitch where Stitch destroys a toy city with sound effects.
2. I am brutally honest, almost to a fault, but I'm also a very good liar, and people tend to not believe me when I'm being truthful but will believes the lies.
3. I know all the words to Jurassic Park (the movie) and House of 1,000 Corpses.
4. I hate not having money, cause it means I can't donate money to charities and causes.
5. If I didn't have kids I would be a nomad, I feel domesticated.
6. I'm pansexual. Meaning if I'm attracted to you, it's cause I like you not your gender or orientation.
7. If left alone in the woods I could survive on my own. I even know how to make a bow and arrows.
8. I love when people can see that I'm not just Irish but also German and Cherokee.
9. I hate when I say I'm German and get called a nazi. It's offensive.
10. I love meeting Pagan folk and them saying "you look familiar" or "this might sound crazy but were you Morgan LeFey?"
11. I wouldn't change a thing about my past. Not even my rape.

Now for Questions I Answer:
Magaly has suggested we answer the 3rd and 9th questions her taggers gave out.

Mommy Needs a Sick Day

Well this was a fabulous weekend. Ariel and I caught the stomach bug. Thankfully it passed AJ over and hubby, well hubby doesn't get sick. I spent most of the day yesterday sleeping and running to the bathroom. I almost had hubby take us down to the ER for fear of dehydration. I did however have him call out. Ariel's pedi said if she would drink some pedialyte then she could stay home since she isn't vomiting (like I was) and she didn't have a fever (like I did). We seem to be on the mend already but that was a day from hell.

I Did Change ONE Thing!

I'm happy to say that I did manage to change one thing so far. I made more room in our room!

Hint! Hint! I need a yoga mat!

Not completely done but I have enough space to put down a yoga mat, now I just need one. But the point is that we have space now. Ariel is thrilled and is crawling all over. She also has figured out that she can pull the tote box with her toys out. She is getting a lot more independent. She's such a big girl now too.

I swear she was a preemie!

Can you believe my little preemie girl is 8 months old? She also weighs in at 19 pounds! She is crawling all over the place. Climbing on things. Pulling herself. She's even starting to try to walk. She stands up and just lets go, but unfortunately she falls and starts crying.

I can get to my dresser again!

Now I just need to get the canvas drawers for the kids shelving, and that is all done. I also happy to finally have my command hooks up so that hubby will stop throwing everything on the floor. Of course once our room is decluttered and organized I have to start on the used-to-be-computer-room-but-suppose-to-be-the-kids-room and that one is going to take sometime. Especially since Papa keeps buying more toys, and big ones at that.

Witchy Book Reading Challenge 2012

I decided to try and jump start my reading this year by joining Magaly's reading challenge over at Pagan Culture. Since adding my second baby, Ariel, I've been lacking in the time department. I thought this would be fun, especially since I tend to read supernatural/witchy/faerie books.

Here's the rules:
*Add the challenge button to your sidebar, or wherever you put your buttons.
*Write a post to let everyone know about the challenge.
*Leave a comment over at Magaly's post here.
*At the bottom of your post, add the witchy books you read in 2012, from January 13th to December 13th. You can do this as you, like I will.
*Reviews are optional, but you will be able to find mine over at Faery Tale Addict, my book review blog.

Witchy Reading Levels:
Elemental Reader 4 books
Bookish Darling 13 books
Lunar Booklover 28 books
Witchy Bibliophile 35+ books

  1. Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris (so far just mentions a witch but it's full of faeries)
  2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis

Three Years Ago Today

I began my journey as a mom.

I was a single mom.

I was thrilled to have my baby boy (after 2 days of induced labor).

I was amazed to know his cry immediately from another room.

I felt empowered to feed this little baby that came from me with my own body.

I had no idea how I was going to do this.

But I knew I was never turning back and never regretting.

I loved this beautiful baby boy the minute I saw him.
